Learn To Play

The bridge from skating lessons into hockey. Players add sticks, pucks, simple rules, team habits, and game confidence before joining a youth team.

Who This Is For

Learn To Play is for players who can move on skates and are ready to add hockey-specific skills without jumping straight into a full team season.

Skating Base

Players should be working toward balance, stopping, turning, and enough confidence to safely add stick and puck work.

Hockey Skills

Practices build puck touches, stickhandling, passing, shooting basics, positions, spacing, and simple rules.

Team Habits

Players learn listening, shifts, line changes, bench habits, effort, safety, and how to practice with a group.

How The Funnel Works

1

Learn To Skate

Build the skating base first when needed.

2

Learn To Play

Add hockey skills and simple game habits.

3

Youth League

Move into age-group Billings Youth Hockey when ready for regular practices and games.

Not The Same As Youth League

Learn To Play is a development bridge. Youth League is the regular age-group team season with team structure, schedules, and games.
