About

A USA Hockey Registrar is the primary administrator responsible for managing the official registration and rostering of all participants—players, coaches, managers, and volunteers—within a local hockey association. They ensure the organization remains in compliance with USA Hockey and affiliate rules.

Key Responsibilities:

The Registrar serves as the bridge between the local association and USA Hockey.

  • Roster Management: Create and maintain the Official Team Roster for all teams. This involves assigning players and staff to teams and submitting rosters for approval by the District Registrar.
  • Compliance Tracking: Verify that all participants have met mandatory requirements before being rostered. This includes:
  • Players: Birth certificate verification and citizenship transfers.
  • Staff: Completion of SafeSport training, background screenings, and Coaching Education Program (CEP) age-specific modules.
  • Liaison Duties: Act as a board representative and the primary contact for team managers regarding registration procedures and rules.
  • Data Security: Securely manage member data within the official portal and ensure information remains confidential.
  • Financial Coordination: Work with the association treasurer to balance registration fees and ensure all accounts are paid.

Essential Resources:

Registrars rely on specific digital tools and support networks provided by the USA Hockey Registration platform.
